Believe
it or not, the weather in Malawi is very predictable. Malawi
basically has two seasons: the rainy season (from November
until about April) and a dry season (from May to October).
Be assured
that in the rainy season it will rain almost everyday. In
fact in one rainy season almost 15 cm of water will fall on
Malawi. Flash flooding in the southern regions of Malawi happens
from time to time. Just a month or so prior to the rainy season
begins Malawis temperature goes up to about 30C (86F)
and remains relatively high until the beginning of the dry
season.
The dry
season also serves as Malawis colder part of the year.
It might rain two or three short times in Malawi during the
entire dry season. Temperatures slowly dip to around 11C (52F).
Normally
the Southern Region is about 4C (8F) warmer than the Central
region and about 6C (11F) warmer than the Northern region.
Temperatures also slowly increase the closer you are to the
lake.
