Ujeni.net: Samuel M. Roberts Portfolio: 2005 - 2007

Ten things my resume and portfolio won’t tell you:

  • I learned Kenyan Sign Language while serving as a United States Peace Corps volunteer in western Kenya.

  • I have meditated every day for more than 13 years.

  • I recorded an album with a band in 1998. We didn’t go anywhere, but I still play guitar everyday for my cat.

  • My mother made a needle-point Christmas ornament with the Apple logo the year that I received my first Mac (1985). My favorite app was FullPaint.

  • My brother and I rode our BMW motorcycles across Mexico and managed to not kill each other or ourselves.

  • My wife converted me to a vegetarian (though I still need to eat more vegetables).

  • Like my father, brother and step brothers, I am an Eagle Scout.

  • I went to film school after high school, but never finished my degree in film.

  • I got my first full-time job as a graphic designer at age 19. I assembled my portfolio the night before my interview after meeting my future boss at a hardware store.

  • I have not owned a TV for 8 years and I am not convinced that I have missed much.
